[句型 1] 有疑問字的「間接問句」

疑問字 + 助動詞 + S + … ? (直接問句)
S + V + 疑問字 + S + (助動詞) + V … (間接問句)

範例：

1. 他什麼時候要走？
   When will he go?
   
   
2. 我不知道他什麼時候要走。
   I don’t know when he will go. = I have no idea (of) when he will go.
   
   
3. 他們是生還是死呢，現在仍無法確定。
   Whether they are alive or not is still uncertain.
   

說明：

1. 單獨應用的問句，為「直接問句」，如例 1；作為句子主詞或受詞用的問句，
   為「間接問句」，如例 2 與 3。
   
   
2. 間接問句，助動詞不再倒置到主詞之前。
   
   
3. that 引導的平述句通常不做介系詞的受詞。但問句則可作為介系詞的受詞。例如：
   She said nothing about ___ she would return.
   (A) that (B) when (C) how (D) whether
   可選 (B)(C)(D)，因為引導的都是問句，可以作為介系詞 about 的受詞，但不能選 (A)，
   因為 that 引導的是平述句。
   
   
4. 例 2 中的 have no idea (= don’t know)，可看作一個動詞應用，
   其後可以有介系詞 of 或 about，也可以接 as to，但都可以省略。
   

題型：

1. 沒有人知道那是誰的。
   Nobody knows whose it is. (Nobody knows whom it belongs to.)
   分析：「那是誰的？」Whose is it? = Whom does it belong to?
   
   
2. 比較下列兩句：
   (A) 他問我怎麼了 He asked me what was the matter.
   (B) 他問我那件事是什麼 He asked me what the matter was.
   分析：1. (A) 句的 what 作主詞，the matter (= wrong) 作主詞補語，
   (A) = He asked me what was wrong. 2. (B) 句的 the matter (= the affair) 作主詞，
   what 作主詞補語，(B) = He asked me what the affair was.
   
   
3. I asked her when ___
   (A) to be back (B) would she be back (C) she would back (D) she would be back
   答案：(A)(D)
   分析：原題是說：「我問她什麼時候回來。」作為受詞用的，可以是「子句」，
   也可以是「不定詞」。I don’t know what I should do. (子句作受詞) =
   I don’t know what to do. (不定詞作受詞)
   
   
4. 你想知道他長相如何嗎？
   Do you want to know what he looks like?
   分析：「長相」look like。like 在此是介系詞。
